Happy New Year 2025!
Happy New Year!
A new year is always exciting. It’s a time to start again, start fresh, start over, set new (or renew!) intentions and (re)embrace new visions and opportunities.
Many years ago, my dear Ayurveda teacher, Sonam Targee, once taught me that the ancient yogis believed whatever you do on the first day of a new year sets the tone for your entire year. Some would say the first word you speak, the first thought you have, the first bite of food you take, all sets the tone for your year ahead.
Woah. That’s a lot to consider and thoughtfully put into practice.
One of my favorite Sharon Salzberg quotes (I have it on my refrigerator) is, “we can always begin again.”
So, if you forget to pray to Ganesha or scrape your tongue when you wake up on New Year’s Day, if you decide to eat the cold holiday leftovers right out of the fridge for breakfast, or if you sleep the day away, remember, you can always begin again!
I hope you will join me in starting again and setting the intention to continue leading with the heart, cultivating compassion and embracing abundance in 2025. Many of us are feeling the weight of the world’s darkness. My hope for 2025 is that we all remember the light that each of us carries within us at the center of our true being. A light of love that cannot be extinguished. May we remember this, and shine our bright courageous hearts out to all beings in an effort to make our corners of the world a brighter place.
I look forward to meeting the joys and challenges of the year ahead with you.
